The details
Soft pink details, an ivory cap and a dark barrel. A quiet combination with something to say.
A Beaklet is a refillable writing instrument. Ink flows from the converter through the feed to the nib, then onto your page.
Box contents
Each box contains one Beaklet pen, two ink cartridges and an instruction booklet with guidance on setting up, using and caring for your pen.
The story
Pink petals fall across pale stone steps. The shadows of branches shift a little. At first, it looks as though nothing is happening. Then you notice what changed.
Kyoto carries that quieter attention in its soft pink details, ivory cap and dark barrel. The Hornbill-inspired clip completes the design.
For a page written slowly, a small sketch, or a thought that needed a few minutes before it knew what it wanted to say.

The bird in the design
Our clip takes its shape from a Hornbill’s beak. A small detail that brings the story into the Beaklet.
The ink on the page
Ink travels through the feed to the nib, where the next line begins.
Room for another thought
The converter draws ink from a bottle so you can refill and keep writing.
Checked before it leaves us
Every Beaklet is inspected, from the nib to the finish, before it leaves us.
The inspiration
She had been sitting there for a while.
The painter from Kyoto barely moves. To the Hornbill watching her in Dandeli, this seems suspicious.
She waits through leaves, mist and what appears to be more nothing. Then the light shifts. She makes one brushstroke.
The Hornbill begins to understand. Looking closely sometimes means staying where you are.
The old city gridKyoto was laid out in 794 as a chessboard of streets, and the centre still follows it.
Fushimi InariThousands of vermilion torii gates climb Mount Inari, each one given by a family or a business.
Kiyomizu-deraA wooden stage on the hillside, held up on tall pillars and built without a single nail.
ArashiyamaPaths through tall bamboo on the west edge of the city, where the stalks creak in the wind.
GionWooden teahouses and paper lanterns. Maiko still walk these streets to their evening appointments.
Gion MatsuriEvery July, tall wooden floats are pulled through central Kyoto for one of Japan’s best known festivals.

A little help
Get to know your Beaklet.
How does a Beaklet write?
A Beaklet is a refillable writing instrument. Ink flows from the converter through the feed to the nib, then onto your page.
Which nib should I choose?
Every Beaklet comes with a choice of two nib grades: Fine (F) and Extra Fine (EF). A finer nib makes a narrower line; a broader nib leaves a wider one. Your handwriting, paper and ink also affect how the line looks.
If you are unsure, tell us how you like to write. We will help you understand the available options.
What ink should I use?
Use ink made for refillable writing instruments with a nib and feed. Other inks can clog the feed and interrupt the flow.
When changing ink colours, clean the Beaklet first so the old ink does not mix with the new one.
Can I use cartridges?
Please check the compatible cartridge format listed for your edition. Cartridges and converters need to fit the Beaklet correctly. If you are unsure, ask us before choosing a refill.
